ARS Insights, June 2026. Practical research thinking for business owners, in plain language.
1. Growth beat expectations
SBI Research reports that India’s GDP grew 7.7% in 2025-26, with growth speeding up to 7.8% in the January to March quarter, which it called a pleasant surprise. Services led, growing 9.9% in the quarter, with trade, hotels, transport and communication up 12.5%. Industry grew 7.3%, and manufacturing grew 10.7% for the full year. Private consumption growth recovered to 7.7%, and private investment announcements rose to Rs 56 lakh crore from Rs 37 lakh crore.
2. Strong averages, uneven businesses
Why it matters: A national average does not mean every sector or every firm grew at that pace. Services and manufacturing grew fast, but your customers may be in a part of the economy that did not.
What to measure: compare your growth with your own sector, not with GDP. Ask whether you gained or lost share among your customers.
3. One question for your business this month
If the economy grew 7.7%, did your business grow faster or slower, and which of your customers tell you why?
