ARS Insights, July 2026. Practical research thinking for business owners, in plain language.
1. June GST collections
Gross GST collections were Rs 1,94,812 crore in June 2026, up 13.9% on June 2025. The Finance Ministry’s provisional data credits the rise mainly to imports: import revenue rose 34.6% to Rs 60,038 crore, while domestic revenue rose 6.5% to Rs 1,34,774 crore. Refunds rose 29.1% to Rs 32,436 crore, and net GST was Rs 1,62,377 crore, up 11.2%.
2. Which number describes your market?
Why it matters: If you sell to Indian households and shops, domestic growth is closer to your world than the headline. A fast rise in imports can lift the total without meaning your customers are spending more.
What to measure: sales to your own customers, month on month and against the same month last year, and the share of repeat customers.
3. One question for your business this month
Is your sales growth closer to 14% or closer to 6.5%, and what would a customer survey say about the reason?
